Plummet

"I want to fly"
I kept repeating those words.
Over and over,
Staring at her.

But she won't allow it.
"I want to fly"
I said once more,
And over again.

For I loved the sky,
And my love for flying.
To feel,
The soft wind,
Under my wings.
Breezing through,
And seeing the sky,
And the soft land below.

"I want to fly"
She won't allow me,
Cuddling me under her wings.
Every day,
I would just watch others,
Their wings spread.

O so free,
O so graceful.
"Fly, I want to fly"
I said,
Though she told me no,
Though she told me the reason so.

"I want to fly"
Almost pleadingly,
Under her soft wings.

Lifting her beak to the skies,
Her gaze so far,
Her gaze so longing.
"So fly."
She whispered.

My eyes shone,
And glimmered like onyx stone.
Under her wings,
Under her cover,
I fell.

My wings,
Spread o so wide,
O so far and free.

From the tree,
From the leaves,
I fell.

I flapped,
I flapped.
I want to fly.

The soft breeze of the wind,
The feel of it all under my feathers.
To glide and see the world,
Under my wings.
